Our New Staying Active Centre is open on a Tuesday from 2pm.We offer a chance to chat and make new friends as well as to join in a gentle exercise class funded by The Big Lottery.

Fit as a Fiddle

Fit as a Fiddle is funded by The Big Lottery and offers gentle exercise for the older person. We have qualified instructors who can give you helpful tips on keeping active and healthy.

Sunday Lunch

Sunday Lunch is available at Bradbury House on the third Sunday of the month. This is a very popular event and so is best to book early.

Transport is limited and may not be available to some events.

If you are a carer and would like further information please come along to our Coffee and Cakes for Carers morning as part of Carers week. We will be at Bradbury House, Weston Road, Stafford with representatives from the Department of Work and Pensions between 10.00 a.m. and 12 noon and everyone is welcome to join us. If you can’t make that date then please call 01785 607060 and we will arrange a visit for you at a time that is more suitable.

Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance:

Age Concern Stafford and Districts specially trained form fillers can help you to claim Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance. Call 01785 607060 and we can send you the forms and arrange for someone to help you fill them in at a time that is convenient to you and in your own home.

Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
This benefit is for people below the age of 65 and to qualify for this benefit you must need help with either personal care or have difficulty walking or both.
DLA does not depend on NI contributions and is not affected by savings or income.
Once awarded the allowance it will continue, without an age limit, as long as you satisfy either the care or the mobility conditions.

Attendance Allowance
Attendance Allowance is a benefit for people over the age of 65, who need help with personal care or need supervision in the day or someone to watch over them by night, due to physical or mental disability.  

It does not depend on NI contributions and is not affected by savings or income.   It is paid on top of other benefits or pensions.
To qualify you must meet the following conditions
  • You are aged 65 or older
  • You must meet the day and or night conditions
  • You must normally have satisfied the disability conditions for at least 6 months - however there are special rules for people who are terminally ill.
  • You must normally reside in the UK
How to Claim
We can arrange for Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance forms to be sent directly to you at home, and if you need help filling in the form we can also provide someone to assist you with those questions that you are never to sure how to answer.
