at the age of 50, say - that a whole new life has opened before you."

Fit as a Fiddle
Fit as a Fiddle is a national project The Big Lottery has funded Fit as a Fiddle over 5 years , to a total of £15.1 million Fit as a Fiddle is aimed at providing opportunities for older people to remain or become active and healthy in later years. With an ageing population, it's no good living longer if you have lost your mobility and are stuck at home on your own, so we want to encourage people to grow old in a fit and healthy way. Here in Stafford we have received funding to deliver Prescription for Health
WHAT IS PRESCRIPTION FOR HEALTH?
Well Prescription For Health is nothing to do with getting medication from the doctors; it is about keeping older people active, eating healthily and socially interactive.
An opportunity to experience new things, and possibly revisiting old interests, from gentle seated exercise to keep fit, dancing, swimming and cooking. Some activities will be taken to people who for whatever reason are not currently able to access them, for example, rural locations, sheltered accommodation, care homes and cookery for bereaved men.
The range of activities varies depending on the need in the local area. One of the most important elements of Prescription For Health is fun.

Every month we are visited by a speaker who talks about issues that affect us, or about things we can do to make our free time more interesting. Keep an eye on the website to see who our speaker is each month.
We are a friendly and informal group who will welcome everyone to our meetings. Please come along and see the sorts of things we do.
In September we had a successful Listening Event with David Kidney MP to discuss the Age Concern Campaign The Big Q, about the sort of care older people get after discharge from hospital or out in the community. We thank everyone who attended.
